The Equipment Prefixes view displays the equipment prefixes that exist at the current scope level. Container numbers following the ISO standard consist of a four-character prefix, followed by a six-digit number and a check digit.

Normally, the equipment numbers that conform to the ISO standard do not use the check digit to uniquely identify the equipment. This enables you to accommodate EDI messages that have equipment numbers with incorrect or missing check digits. However, sometimes you may have equipment where the check digit is a part of the equipment number uniqueness.

To accommodate equipment numbers where the check digit is a part of the equipment number uniqueness:

1. Use the Equipment Prefix form (on page 1) to define the equipment prefix.

In the Equipment Prefix form, from the Check Digit Algorithm drop-down list, select the 11th character is just part of the unique ID option.

2. In the Settings view, set ARGODOUBLEBLIND003 (CHECK_DIGIT_CORRECTION) (on page 1) as false.

If you associate an organization, such as a line operator, with an equipment prefix, N4 displays the organization as the default owner when you add a new equipment with the specified prefix. For example, if you associate the line operator MSK with the equipment prefix MSKU, N4 displays MSK as the owner when you add a new equipment with the MSKU prefix.

You can edit and override the default equipment owner as required.

You can add new equipment prefixes, and edit or delete existing equipment prefixes from this view.

We recommend that you set up common prefixes with the correct check digit algorithm.

In addition, you can use the Actions menu to:

• Recover Obsolete: Recover deleted equipment prefixes

• Purge: Purge equipment prefixes

• Copy Reference Set (on page 1): Copy equipment prefixes from another entity set

To add a new record:

Click .

To edit or delete a record:

1. In the list view, select the record(s) that you want to edit or delete.

2. Do one of the following:

• Click to edit a selected record.

• Click to delete the selected record(s).
